Insights for the Month of Libra
September 23rd
Sun enters Libra 04:21 AM EDT
Sun sextile Saturn
If only for a moment, for a day, we are poised on a point of perfect balance: Light and dark, day and night, in perfect equilibrium. For those of a symbolic bent, this suggests a reflective stillness followed by a dynamic change. We have the experience of seeing ourselves reflected in all that we encounter. There is no ‘other’ there is only the one that becomes two that generates the many. At the moment of perfect balance – two becomes one. This is where Libra gets its reputation for peace-making and negotiation. (For those who are not so symbolic here are some facts about equinoxes!
And as if that isn’t enough – Saturn is offering a wise and helping hand. A good day to step up to the necessary task of making peace out of pieces.

There is nowhere to run or hide from the fact that we humans are part of the natural world. Call it nature. No matter how much cement gets laid down there is always a weed willing to make a crack in it. We are just like that. We belong to the natural world and its processes; more than we know as we scurry through our busy lives. We, just like the plants and the animals, even the stars and planets, are subject to the cycles and seasons of growth and decay. Being in service to and in harmony with the ebb and flow of nature can bring out our most noble potential.
Probe deep places with your mind. There are many things you could obsess about. Focus on the ones that encourage the possibility of change for the greatest good even or maybe especially if it challenges the seemingly perfect balance of your life.

The next wave of transformation breaks over the world. Moving forward we are often horrified by how awful things are but it is also true that many people are engaged in creating a sustainable future based on radically shifting the present. Humans are so very clever at making and fixing things. We are smartest when we are present to the world around us before we do the next clever thing. Today, like almost any day, is a perfect time to consider the seven generations.
September 27th
Full Moon: 04 degrees Aries 10:50 PM EDT
Celebrate peace where it exists and the possibility of resolving conflict where it is necessary.
September 30th
Sun conjunct Mercury (retrograde)
During every Mercury retrograde period is a mystical moment when the mind (Mercury) and heart (Sun) fuse and we are reminded how smart it is to be kind. In this case we are also reminded that when we listen well, we hear better, no matter who or what we are listening to. There are many voices on the wind. Which ones speak to you?
October 6th
Sun square Pluto
Mercury sextile Saturn
Mars opposite Neptune
There are days when you just are not the boss of your life. Circumstances overtake good sense and, try as you might, the only thing for it is to go with the flow and trust that it’s just the way of it. Everything and nothing makes sense.
October 8th
Venus enters Virgo
Think back to July 18 – 31. Venus was making her station at Zero degrees Virgo. Now she has returned to that very point: completing her journey, reminding us what matters most and how we might care for and about them.
October 9th
Mercury stationery direct
What have you learned over the last three weeks? What did you hear that shifted your understanding? Now you own it, you can share it without losing it.
October 10th
Venus square Saturn
What matters most is worth every effort. Everyone deserves love. But wisdom must be earned.
October 11th
Jupiter trine Pluto
Sun opposite Uranus
There is so much we can do to make things work, especially when we are willing to question authority and free ourselves from useless conventions. But only the useless ones. These are incredibly personal decisions that create the fabric of the collective will. It’s the way votes determine an election or public demonstrations shift policy.
October 12th
New Moon: 19 degrees Libra: 08:08 PM EDT
A contract is only as good as the intentions of the signatories. Accept the contracts that will bring out the best, possible you.
October 13th
Mercury sextile Saturn
Things make sense. Think horses, not zebras.
October 15th
Mars trine Pluto
What worked on the 11th works even better today. Best is if it fixes what was broken or enables smooth transition. Change is inevitable, facilitation is a choice.
October 16th
Venus opposite Neptune
When the longing is really intense; when we want something so badly we can’t seem to bear it; when we believe that perfection is something we can make happen; then what?
- We can whine at the world because it doesn’t deliver.
- We can fall headlong into our addictions.
- We can stay with the longing; be aware of how it feels; ride the intense wave of desire without expecting fulfillment and see what happens.
More or less it’s a choice we make. For better and worse.
October 17th
Mars conjunct Jupiter
Here on the ground there is much to do. It’s not about getting it all done so much as faith in knowing that you will do all you can: that you can offer yourself to the task with enthusiasm and in so doing, serve the greatest good. But truth be told, even if you’re just serving yourself it is probably going to feel pretty good.
October 22nd
Mercury square Pluto
Just like September 24th: ‘Probe deep places with your mind. There are many things you could obsess about. Choose the ones that encourage the possibility of change for the greatest good even, or maybe especially, if it challenges the seemingly perfect balance of your life’.
Only this time Mercury is direct and all that digging down deep can take you somewhere in the external world.
