Insights for the month of Pisces
February 18th
Sun enters Pisces 6:50 PM EST
New Moon: 29 degrees of Aquarius: 6:47 PM EST
Today is complex with endings and beginnings. Best to let it be what it is: The end of thinking we can understand it all which only gives rise to rationalizations: The beginning of opening to a wider reality than the one we can describe. This is not a leap so much as a dive into unknown waters without testing it first with your toes.
The poet says:
My heart is moved by all I cannot save:
So much has been destroyed
I have to cast my lot with those
Who age after age, perversely,
with no extraordinary power,
reconstitute the world.
February 19th
Mars enters Aries
The hero arrives, intent to save the day. In this, our age of PTSD riddled soldiers and EMTs we need reminding or maybe just a new definition of our notion of ‘hero’. We need to understand the difference between superhero (the stuff of fantasy) and hero. Today’s heroes must also feel even as they face the monsters. We have finally come to understand that whether we know it or not all heroes eat the heart of what they slay.
February 20th
Venus enters Aries
Here is what Venus knows in Mars’ sign:
... gentleness is active
gentleness swabs the crusted stump
invents more merciful instruments
to touch the wound beyond the wound
does not faint with disgust
will not be driven off
keeps bearing witness calmly
against the predator, the parasite.
- Adrienne Rich
February 22nd
Venus conjunct Mars
Here is a passion for us all. A fiery mix of heroism and instinctive courage, gentleness and the willingness to care how our actions cause reactions in others.
February 23rd
Sun square Saturn
It’s always about effort when something squares Saturn. Today’s effort is about how the things we believe, that we can’t prove get in the way of the things we believe that we think we can prove. Maybe it’s about the difference between spirituality and religion.
February 24th
Venus trine Saturn
If ever there was a time to stand up for feminine values this is it. It’s not just about women and therefore children, it’s about life. It’s about actively wanting a sustainable way to live on our big blue home.
February 26th
Mars trine Saturn
Discipline is not the same as punishment. Not by a long shot. Open yourself to ‘the work’ that is your work; your life’s work. Young or old, this journey you are on requires discipline. Be willing.
March 1st
Mercury sextile Uranus
Mercury opposite Jupiter
Enthusiasm for the creative genius is such a high. Hard to resist. It’s meant to carry us forward. We are tied together by our shared images of reality. Challenge the vision which inspires you by reading the research. Support it by asserting what is true for you, not necessarily for everyone. Your interpretation matters.
March 3rd
Jupiter trine Uranus
No holds barred: there is genius among us. Once upon a time people had a genius they were not considered to be geniuses. This weeks genius is not about how smart we think we are, it’s about intuition and synchronicity; how things sometimes just click. If you’re a creative type or someone who wants to be the change, this is a call to take the leap. It’s not so much a ‘now or never’ but more about spirit moving through us. Like rain, however, which falls on the just and the unjust, this enthusiasm can fall on the fanatics just as easily as the creators. The Pied Piper was as inspirational to the rats that followed him as to the children.

Venus trine Jupiter
Venus conjunct Uranus
Take the risk, make the jump especially if it supports the women to be free. For sure if it will make the world a more beautiful place.
March 5th
Full Moon: 14 degrees Virgo: 01:05 PM EST
Sun sextile Pluto
Empower the real in your life, in your world. We spend a lot of time appreciating the imagined or virtual beauty of trees and lakes, of the flight of birds and the mighty majesty of elephants. We want to save the real world from ourselves. But this full moon wants to shine a spotlight on the immediate reality of our lives. What’s it like when we fetch and carry? How do we treat our animals or even our own ‘soft animal bodies’?
March 7th
Sun conjunct Chiron
Should astrologers even consider Chiron; the wounded healer? It’s not a planet or even an asteroid. It’s a planetoid! Here in the age of PTSD I think Chiron is especially worth considering. So much of what goes on in this world is about wounding and healing. All the best things are learned when we undertake this journey. Chiron is mentor to all. Today is for aiming the heart at the kind of healing that gives wisdom to all who are involved.
March 10th
Mars trine Jupiter
A day for heroes. A day to take the risk, go beyond your comfort zone, leap into the intuitive gap. Synchronicity can blow your mind and push you into action. Just remember there are always consequences to actions. It’s physics: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Something like that.
March 11th
Mars conjunct Uranus
Mars square Pluto
We are in the belly of the whale: the last square of Uranus and Pluto is accompanied by Mars. What a strange astrological coincidence: just in case we were not noticing how crazy the world seems, Mars is making sure. Wherever in your life you feel intense pressure, now is the time to let it cook rather than to let it blow you up: No matter what is happening in the world. This is quite intense till the 16th. And we will live with whatever explodes for a long time to come. So hold onto your matches, even as you let go of your fear.
March 12th
Mercury enters Pisces
If we are guided by the heavenly placements of planets this suggests it’s time to tune into the places we sense but can’t define. The mind is put to good use when it dives deep without needing to proclaim the fruits of such pursuits.
March 14th
Saturn stationery retrograde
When a planet makes a station it appears to stand still from our perspective on Planet Earth. It’s an illusion. It’s a metaphor. Just like all of astrology. The Sun does not rise; the earth turns. And yet we are deeply moved and informed about the human condition when we watch the Sun rise. And so it is that although we can’t see the station of Saturn, if we are attuned to it we might observe that there is no movement in some area of life that involves the law, or our sense of faith that someone knows what they are doing. What matters most is how each of us takes responsibility for living according to our vision of truth: Not fanatically but wisely. Wise responsibility is meant to make a stand today.
March 16th
Uranus square Pluto
Mercury square Saturn
This is what all the fuss has been about. One way to see it is that both Uranus and Pluto are agents of change. Uranus in Aries, wants revolutionary change; it inspires us to assert or aggress against the powers that be. It’s happy to pick up arms and use them. Pluto is about change that comes from the rot, the natural decomposition of things. In Capricorn, which is meant to be about the right use of resources, we are painfully aware of mismanagement and corruption on so many levels; the rotting infrastructure. Although it’s a square they are in cahoots with each other. Pluto’s desire for change is organic, Uranus wants to speed it up. We have had seven exact hits since June of 2012, although the energy was stirred up before that and will last after today. In fact today is simply the threshold of chaos; the kind we will be dealing with for a long time to come. If you aren’t president of the world you might just think about how these forces are at work in your life. Where are you frustrated because change is coming too slowly or terrified because it’s coming too fast?
Mercury and Saturn just add a ponderous sense of not knowing where to go for answers. Today isn’t about answers. At best it might be about research.
March 17th
Venus enters Taurus
If you need to orient yourself amid the chaos do the thing that gives you pleasure; the simple kind. Not the expensive or destructive kind. We don’t need to consume more to feel safe, we need to be fully present to exactly where we are in the here and now.
March 18th
Mercury conjunct Neptune
Be guided by the dream. It’s telling you something.
March 20th
New Moon 29 degrees Pisces Eclipse: 5:36 AM
We are drops of water in the vast sea of consciousness. This causes despair and elation. It is extreme. Our New Moon intention is to be ready for whatever comes. It requires a quiet faith in something that cannot be proven. A new moon on the last day of Pisces only a little less than half a day before the spring equinox is a vivid astrological picture of a ‘worm hole jump’ to another galaxy.
