Insights for the Month of Pisces
February 19th
Sun enters Pisces 00:34 AM EST
‘There is no way to tell people that they are all walking around shining like the Sun.’ We don’t generally think of Pisces as a sign that shines like the Sun. It’s watery and mutable which suggests fluctuating feelings; things like waves upon the sea which rise and fall and cause us to be reflective or make us run for cover if they are too big. But when we are talking about Pisces here, at this moment, we are talking about the Sun in Pisces. The Sun is always potentially about light, awareness and love. So how is it that Pisces can shine? What kind of light emanates from the fluctuation of our feelings? Some say that water or feelings is the most spiritual of all the elements. To feel is to have the capacity for bonding, compassion and empathy. In Cancer we bond with mother; in Scorpio we bond with the other. In Pisces we are meant to bond with the Great Spirit of Oneness. To be so secure that we trust that the life we are living is meant to be lived. This year, with so many planets in mutable signs Pisces has a lot of fluctuating to do; a lot of being like a wave upon the sea. Neptune which takes 15 years to transit through a sign is in Pisces. We could say that it’s challenging the world to think of itself as One. But not in the sense of mono-culture. Not in the way of standardization of seeds and consciousness; rather in the way of waves upon the sea. We can predict the tides but each and every wave has it’s own particular way of rising and passing. ‘We are born, and born again, like the waves upon the sea’.

Full Moon: 03 degrees Virgo 01:20 PM EST
Full Moons remind us to look and see what is. To understand the world as a reflection of ourselves. When the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon is in Virgo we are looking at the condition of devotion and service in our lives. What are we actually dedicated to? It’s staring you in the face. The overall feeling of this year is ‘too busy’. And nothing but our own awareness seems to be able to slow the pace. We are not meant to be looking at our inadequacy or the error of our ways at this full moon; we are meant to be looking at how if at all, we understand the sacredness of our mundane lives. It’s one thing to cut the carrot and put it in the soup. It’s another thing to be aware that you are doing so.

Mercury sextile Saturn
We are fairly obsessed with the notion of ‘maximizing our potential’. Who could argue? Especially when it comes to our children. But/and in a world of such intense individuality what is really the most ethical perspective to have here? My potential or our potential? And if each one of us does her part will that benefit the whole?
February 26th
Mercury sextile Uranus
A great period for philosophers and all who think and contemplate the life they/we are living. Hopefully the thread of yesterday’s inquiry has opened us to revelations. The oddest idea might have some traction.
February 28th
Sun conjunct Neptune
Once a year for the next 9 years the Sun will conjunct Neptune in its own sign. A good time for fishing; literally or figuratively. What kind of fish are you looking to catch? The one who swallowed the magic ring? In which case you are challenged to figure out the correct way to deal with an enchanted world. Or do you just need to catch a fish you can eat? In which case you must consider the endangered and mistreated oceans in which they live.

Leap Year Day
Venus sextile Saturn
Leap year days are not astrological. They were invented to keep the calendar on track. Nevertheless there are many traditions that have grown up around this extra day. If you have been waiting around for someone you love to propose, but too shy to do it yourself today is your day! Not just because it’s Leap Year Day but also because Venus and Saturn agree! It’s an opportunity for love that can’t be beat.
March 2nd
Venus sextile Uranus
Having made your proposal you can now watch your life change radically. If you did not take such a risk today is still an opportunity to love what or who you love with a free and open heart. If it feels restricted you might need to dance in the street or at least turn up the music.

Mercury square Mars (at 29 degrees of fixed signs. Mere hours before their ingress or sign change.)
Mercury enters Pisces
Mars enters Sagittarius
Today’s astrological picture fascinates me: Mercury representing the mind, and Mars, vitality, aggression, assertiveness. Each at the last degree of the sign they are in, about to enter a new one. And essentially fighting with each other. Or maybe not fighting so much as resisting each other. Resistance on the threshold is what it looks like. If we are to benefit from the symbolic richness if this planetary configuration we need to ask where are we, as individuals or as a collective human entity, are resisting crossing a threshold. Surely humanity faces a threshold. And each one of us stands at some proximity to that inevitable crossing. You could be having a baby or dying; needing a new job or relocating due to famine, flood, or/and disaster. Mars will appear to be retrograde from mid-April – the end of June. There will be another square on June 9th. Also at the later degrees of fixed signs. But not exactly on the cusp as they are today. So where is the threshold for you? What is the resistance? How will you or are you adapting to changes that cannot be avoided?

Sun square Saturn
Sun sextile Pluto
Venus square Uranus
Remember the cardinal cross? It was on all the astrological minds in 2013 – 14. It was a crash dive into a world that did and didn’t seem to be on a collision course with itself. The acknowledgers and the deniers, fighting over truth and lies and how to move forward without destroying what we seemed to have. Something like that. How quickly we forget or maybe we adapt. Anyway today is a taste of that.

Solar Eclipse: New Moon: 18 degrees Pisces: 08:54 PM EST
Sun opposite Jupiter
It’s a new Moon with an edge. Not only is it a visible eclipse somewhere on this planet but it’s also opposite Jupiter. Best case is we are humble in the face of the bad behavior of others. Compassion is powerful medicine. Of course this is not about allowing abuse. It’s simply about not spinning the wheel of suffering. Worst case is pointing a finger at suffering and blaming the victim. Even if it is us. There is a powerful paradox here involving suffering and judgment. What seems un-resolvable at first has the potential to open us to a level of truth we hadn’t seen or known before.
March 11th
Mercury conjunct Neptune
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Ask the Blade Runner. And what about your dreams? Probably not electric sheep but nonetheless interesting messages swimming up from deep waters.
March 12th
Venus enters Pisces
It happens every year that Venus enters the sign of her exaltation; Pisces. What changes is who she encounters. This year it will be Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter and Mars; even Pluto.
In Pisces she is meant to remind us that beauty matters; not the skin deep version but the kind that arises from the soul and is reminds us that soul matters. Souls matter. In her conversation with the other planets she will explore this: Spiritually, practically, ethically, and personally. And each one opens the door to an opportunity to see what matters most. Stay tuned.
March 14th
Mercury square Saturn
Venus square Mars
A day with too many squares! Can’t always get what you want and nobody wants to take the time to understand what is being said. However, if you make the effort to understand your reward will be great and if you get past having to have what you think you want you will transcend desire and possibly find yourself in another reality; a freer one.
March 15
Mercury sextile Pluto
Mercury opposite Jupiter
All that effort that Saturn required finds a place to land today and tomorrow. The idea being that we can make our dreams into reality if we are willing to do the work. And really, when you think about it, what else do you have to do? Even if you are just dreaming about what you’re having for dinner you still have to buy the ingredients and combine them. If you never have a dream, you never have a dream come true.
March 16th
Jupiter trine Pluto
This should be a great day especially for the earth signs: Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo. Letting go has enabled some kind of manifestation. Jupiter in Virgo is a bit of a pickle though. And it’s headed for a square to Saturn soon. So if you’re not feeling ‘over the moon’ you might at least appreciate the wonder that nature is. Despite all the stress and struggle she keeps creating new life. It’s a wonder.
