Insights for the month of Pisces
February 18:
Sun enters Pisces: 12:18 PM EST
If the 20th century was the Century of the Self it’s quite possible that the 21st is the Century of the Selfie. Many of us live in a hall of mirrors and aren’t quite sure which image of ourselves is the real one. Of course, no image is really the thing it is an image of. And so we find ourselves in Pisces’ realm. There is no talking about Pisces without the awareness that Neptune is in that very sign. It has been since 2011 and will remain there until 2025. The only way to deal with this is to know how you feel, not what you think it looks like to others. Pisces is a water sign, water is representative of the element of feeling. Feeling is a way of seeing the world rather than any random emotional release. When we feel we experience things from within, from our guts. We are encouraged by the surrounding culture not to feel or to feel only in the safety of a therapist’s office. We don’t trust our feelings. But we could learn to if we understood that feelings are not meant (at least at the moment we are feeling them) to turn into action. When we do that we are truly in the realm of projection. We project our feelings and then it seems we don’t have to feel them. It’s a bit like walking into a room backwards and thinking that no one can see you.
The Sun will conjunct Neptune on March 4th but we are called to navigate our own personal hall of mirrors for at least the month of Pisces, maybe till 2025…

Venus conjunct Neptune
Mercury sextile Saturn
Whatever your soul resonates with is beauty. We don’t always realize when it’s happening. We hear the sound of a bird on a snowy day, a splash of water like a musical trill, the light as it falls away toward evening. These things are fleeting, unidentified yet each an invitation to sit for a moment and connect with your innermost self. That’s Venus and Neptune. Mercury wants some kind of articulation; to catch the moment in the mind and describe or define what cannot be caught or known. We are not embodied beings for nothing.
February 25
Venus square Mars
Mercury conjunct Neptune
Sun sextile Saturn
‘You can’t always get what you want’, has become a kind of mantra for consumers, like us. But that doesn’t stop us from thinking, ‘if only I could just get that thing or person or experience over there, I would feel so much better’, which of course is a delusion. If an opportunity shows itself today, one that would help you calm down and get real, take it. Alternatively if you’re given to poetics, that would be good too.
February 27
Venus sextile Pluto
Focus on the changes that arise from good intention, that are grounded in a sense that all humans deserve a place to live, food in their belly, clothes on their backs and connection to their people. As impossible as it seems at time, to make headway, this is the direction we are headed in.
February 28
Mercury square Mars
Mercury sextile Pluto
Everywhere we look there is the possibility to turn a difficult, painful, even horrifying situation into one of connection and compassion: Even if we are looking inside. Whatever the distress, meet it in this way and watch it melt and transform into something else.
March 1
Full Moon 11 degrees Virgo: 7:51 PM
Venus trine Jupiter
It’s always a lifelong celebration; the full Moons. Even if we aren’t in a good mood, we are still here to be in some kind of mood which is cause for joy. Today’s full moon shines light on how sacred the manifest world is, starting with your body and the bodies of those around you; each one a temple of life. I might not wax so mystical if this full Moon did not touch Neptune and Jupiter. But so it is. So we are. So we choose to be, or not.
March 2
Mercury trine Jupiter
As the wild, visionary, crazy poet said:
The mind is like a parachute:
it works best when it’s opened.
Today was made for mind expansion.
Consider another wild and crazy pundit who spoke of parachutes when he said:
The bad news is you’re falling through the air,
nothing to hang on to, no parachute.
The good news is there’s no ground.
It’s a real task to expand the mind toward awareness rather than delusion. Wears me out, some days. But not today.
March 4
Sun conjunct Neptune
Mercury conjunct Venus
What do you think? Is the greatest challenge for humans to conquer space? Or is it to become fully compassionate beings? Won’t it be awesome when we come to understand that space travel will only ever happen if it’s powered by hearts which are open to all life and minds which are completely open to those hearts?
March 6
Mercury enters Aries
Venus enters Aries
We often have a desire to break through, to leap forward, to feel the mighty thrill of our identity. The thing is, can we do it even as we allow for a world full of identities that aren’t ours? Can we be singular without being selfish? Saturn Pluto and soon Mars are or soon will be in Capricorn. Each presents challenges to Aries regarding the usefulness or viability of our individual thrust. We may feel beleaguered or engaged in the challenge to temper passion with discipline. (see March 11th and 13th and then into next month…)
March 8
Jupiter stationery Retrograde
(International Women’s Day)
It’s a funny astrological thing that the day Jupiter entered Scorpio the reality of #MeToo began. Now it is stationing on the same day as International Women’s Day. If we can read the below from the above this would be one about the truth of women’s experiences at the hands of men. Most of us, men and women have had enough. Eventually things will be quite different. At last.
March 11
Mercury square Saturn
Mars trine Uranus
Sun sextile Pluto
Daylight Savings begins
Open the jets! Full speed ahead. Only you better make sure that the details have been taken care of; the operative word being ‘care’. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth caring about. The opportunity to clarify what we do and don’t care about is in our faces.
March 13
Venus square Saturn
Sun trine Jupiter
To live is to love someone or something. To open the heart is to risk loss but not nearly as dangerous as not opening the heart at all. Still there is no point in pretending or being foolish. A truly open heart feels deeply and knows truth.
March 17
New Moon: 26 degrees Pisces: 09:12 AM EDT
Mars enters Capricorn
Hope is a tricky fish. What you hope for is an island in the setting sun, always on the horizon. Better to consider the path that might (or might not) take you to your happy ending. A new requirement for excellence is rubbing its hands together and getting ready to catch us in the net of possible mastery. What would you like to be really good at?
